Ingredient for success: wisp of luck
As if it wasn't ironic enough, and as if by divine intervention I had to sleep at 10pm last night, had a bad dream about how I overlooked one page of the German semester test - which caused me to wake up abruptly at 6am - and channel surfed to National Geographic Channel.
I don't usually get stirred up from my sleep by bad dreams, and in fact I seldom dream. I had been watching only Deutsche Welle on cable but it just happened that they are showing english program at 6am so I flicked away to other channels. Then I saw this program - At Close Range with National Geographic. It caught my attention immediately, and captivated me for the rest of the hour. Talk about luck in taking good pictures.
The show featured National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore, and in the show he shared his experience at work. About how glamorous it looks to be a photographer for Nat Geo and about how dangerous it could be too. His works are continuously flashed across the screen. His photographs make my pictures look like snapshots. His passion for photography makes mine look like interest as hobby. The show was very inspirational to me. There is a millennial gap between real photographers and me. I want to cry. QQ
I could be taking snapshots forever. I wish someday that could change.
I uploaded snapshots from Chinatown and Sentosa onto Flickr. Browse them when you have time to spare.
